Building Self-Trust, Part 3

Start taking action!

Hi and welcome back to the final part in this series!

By now hopefully you have read part 1 and 2. If not, I strongly recommend you do that. This post will make a lot more sense if you are caught up.

Here’s a brief refresher.

In post 1 we talked all about why trust is so important. Trusting yourself builds confidence, improves your decision making and helps you easily trust others.

Post 2 was all about self reflection. There was a quiz that helped you gauge how much you currently trust yourself. I even provided some insight into my journey with trust.

Which now brings you here! This is the exciting part where you get to learn the next steps to take no matter where you are with trusting yourself.

Grab those scores from post 2 and let’s dive in. I’ll lay out action steps and even book recommendations for each stage.

Find your score within the ranges below and read more about where to go from here.

10 - 30 POINTS - Building a connection to self

If you find yourself in this range, don’t worry! I know it’s never fun to be at the bottom but I applaud your honesty.

If you ended up with a score in this range that signals to me that you know yourself well and admit to where you need more help. This trait alone will take you far.

What’s important for you right now is to slowly build that relationship with yourself. Have patience, be consistent, and have fun through the process.

Actions you can start taking now

  • For 20 days I want you to start a daily journaling exercise.

  • 10 minutes max, preferably first thing in the morning or before bed.

  • Write whatever flows to your mind and don’t worry about spelling.

  • I have plenty of posts (and a free 5 day exercise when you join my email list) that talk about journaling and how to start.

  • If you are stuck, start with the topic of trust and what it means to you and your life.

Recommended reading

  • The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

  • I love this book, it’s a great beginners guide to self development and one I revisit often.

Key takeaways

  • This stage is all about building the foundation of your relationship to self.

  • Take it slow, ease into a journaling practice and expand it to meditation.

  • Read the book and reflect on what it means for you.

  • Once you set up a routine for self reflection you can always take the quiz again and find yourself at a new level!

30 - 70 POINTS -Leveling up in life and setting goals

In this range you are at a point where you trust yourself well enough. That’s great!

You should feel proud that you have this connection because this will carry you far in life. Most people walk around not knowing themselves well or knowing what they want.

Whenever I work with someone I always start with the foundation. Self trust is like building a house, you have to have a solid base before you can really see it take shape.

What’s important for you is that you are ready to take some big steps in life and level up. Trusting and knowing yourself is all you need to tackle your goals, big and small.

Actions you can start taking now:

  • Continue your self care routine or reflection time (like daily journaling)

  • Start getting outside your comfort zone to trust yourself even more

  • Set monthly goals that are attainable yet still a little scary i.e. find a networking group, try speed dating, sign up for a course, learn a new skill

  • Check in monthly to see how you’ve done and get focused for the next goal

Recommended reading

  • The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks

  • This book not only talks about why we self sabotage but how to break through it. Prepare to have some big realizations and start to notice what changes in your life.

Key takeaways

  • This is a really good stage to be at and you have a solid foundation.

  • You are ready to set goals and chase them. You know yourself well enough to weather the ups and downs and grow to new heights.

  • Make sure to continue (or start) a daily routine of self reflection and strive to push yourself a little more towards big goals and changes in your life.

70 - 100 POINTS -Start manifesting your dreams

So you scored in the top range, that is an amazing start! You have a good level of trust with yourself and others, you can manage your energy, and make decisions fairly well.

This is an exciting place to be and you are ready for the next way to level up your life.

It’s important to remember that self-development is never ending. There’s always things to learn about yourself and new skills to learn.

This is why I am so excited for anyone in this stage because you are ready for self-development 2.0! I am going to introduce you to the topic of manifesting and creating what you desire.

After I knew myself well and felt confident, I was ready to go after what I wanted in life. This topic is very vast but I want to introduce you to it here and now.

Actions you can start taking now

  • You are at a point where you can start taking risks and getting outside your comfort zone.

  • I want you to set one big goal you have been thinking about but haven’t actioned.

  • Since you have a foundation of trust, you can go after bigger goals and learn what’s going to work for you.

  • Here’s some ideas: invest in a coach or counselor, take a course to learn a new skill, attract love into your life, start a new career, etc.

Book Recommendation

  • The Complete Works of Florence Scovel Shinn

  • This book was written in the early 20th century and sparked a whole new way of thinking about life.

  • Read this with an open mind and see what it can mean for you. I like to read a chapter at a time, apply it to my life, and go back to reading when I feel called to.

Key takeaways

  • At this stage you have a great foundational relationship with yourself, you are ready to take the next step

  • Continue your self care routine and start incorporating some new ways of thinking

  • Once you read this book, start exploring the world of manifestation and apply it to your life. There’s endless resources out there for you!
