Creating your own reality
In the past 3 years since moving to a brand new city on my own I learned there was a different way to approach life.Instead of the "normal" way of always going after the next goal and not feeling happy or successful until I got there, I decided to do the complete opposite. What if I felt completely happy and content with my life as it is now, and trusted that life would work in my favor? If I let go of all expectations and allowed room for good things to happen, could I actually create my dream life?Turns out I managed to do that, and more.As soon as I started trusting in something greater than me and focused on feeling good, amazing things started coming my way faster than I could keep up with. The best example of this in my life is when I decided I wanted to move across the country, to a city I had never been to nor had any connection to.I was done with the hustle of NYC and craved a place that valued nature and outdoor activities. I wanted to see the water and mountains. So, I decided to set my sights on Seattle, it was a city that just kept popping up in my mind. I had never been there, but as I visited my parents for Christmas one year and opened up the newspaper to a front page story on that very city, I took that as a sign. When I returned back to NYC in January, I thought okay this will be the year. I will save up money and go visit this fall and see if I like it.I knew deep down this is what I had to do, it felt right so I went with it. I decided to drop all notions of how it should look and just decided to trust it.So I started to casually look at jobs out there, doing phone interviews here and there but still just keeping it easy.I wasn't going to let the fact that my lease was ending in 3 short months, I figured I'd just move to a quieter part of town if I stayed. There was a plan b, I wasn't at all living in fear or scarcity.I kept doing phone interviews with the company I knew I wanted to be at, one job in particular sounded interesting even though I didn't really know the full extent of it.Well the interview flowed so easy, the answers just came to me and it felt like a great fit. I conducted a second phone interview and it still felt easy, but I wasn't setting my hopes on it.3 days later I am walking to work and my body felt different, it felt lighter and at peace. I couldn't identify at the time but my entire life path was about to change.I received an offer letter through the email to join the company, and they would move me out across the country.I honestly couldn't believe it, 6 weeks after declaring I wanted to move and right when my lease was ending, it was all happening. And completely effortless, too. After I agreed to move, everything about the process continued to be easy and one thing just flowed to the next. It was pretty amazing and what first opened my eyes to this power. If I had deep faith in everything working out, and followed my intuition all the way through, my life really could be as good as I allowed it to.I remember moving here and not knowing anyone or the city, but just remembering this super power I had. Yes things would be tough, but I could continue to trust life. When my anxiety was the worst it had ever been, when I felt incredibly lonely, when I doubted my decision to move, I came back to trust. Now I've used this technique time and time again, whether it was finding an apartment, healing myself, pursuing my passion of nutrition, I manifested things better than I ever imagined.
So my lesson to pass on right now, is that you can live this way too. You can start calling in the magical things, the seemingly impossible, and the too good to be true.
I am going to outline the 4 steps I use every time I come back to this. Now, I try to live this way everyday. I wake up and decide I am going to have the best day ever, everyday.Think of something you want in life, whether it's a relationship, new career, place to live, or even just to feel happier.Try these 4 steps and see how it resonates with you.Identify how you want to feelThis step is crucial and often the thing most people miss. The thing is, when you are desiring something in life, you are really chasing the feeling it will evoke.Meet a great partner to feel love and excitement, find a new job to feel challenged and successful, make more money to feel freedom. For me, moving to a new city, meant feeling more at ease and creating new adventures. Before I even thought about moving I was living more in the state of how I wanted to feel once I did.Feel what that goal will bring you and feel it now. Your brain doesn't know the difference between reality and perception so it will align your life to match your new-found feelings.Act as ifOnce you have identified how you want to feel, now it's all about living in this new state.Feel more challenged and successful as you go to your current job. You never know what new opportunities may come your way.Feel more love and excitement even without a partner, and you will instantly be magnet for it. Have love for the friends in your life, for the city you live in, for everything you have built-in your life. Love is an energy and when you tap into it you are telling the universe you want more of it.Let go of the outcomeThis is the hardest step for people but so important for letting the universe do the work. You have to let go of when, how, where the thing will show up.Yes, you can identify the feelings you desire and some tangible goals, but the real magic happens when you remain open-minded.Majority of the time, you are given things even better than expected. Things you didn't think you wanted but make you much happier. The truth is, once you are tapped into feeling good, your reality will soon shift and change to accommodate it. So things will be coming at you unexpectedly and may look way different from what you thought.Trust, trust, trustOnce you have set up the 3 steps above, you can sit back and let the universe do the rest.Having a belief that you can meet your goal is the most powerful thing you can do.But you have to hold strong onto this belief, and live it everyday. A lot of people mistake setbacks and altered paths as a sign not to go forward to their vision.Life gives us contrast for a reason, it points us in the right direction to go to. Showing us what we want more of and what we want less of.The plan has already been put in place for you, you just need to come back to trust. One crucial component of this step is to follow your instincts, trust your gut. The body has an incredible message system, most of us are too distracted to listen to it.So wake up everyday knowing you are working towards a goal, even if you can't see it yet. When you let go of doubt, disbelief, or uncertainty, you make way for so much good.My wish is that this post serves as an intro into the art of creating what you want. It may seem hard to believe at first or "out there" but I promise it works, and that is coming from a lifelong skeptic, someone who always saw the lack in life.If I can tap into this power I promise you can too, let me know what you want to start creating!
