How hiring a coach will level up your life
The idea of hiring a coach is something I have always believed in. Whenever I have invested in a coach, whether it be time or money, I have always been able to move past road blocks quickly.
"Coach" can mean anything from a therapist to a life coach or a mentor at work. An unbiased third party that can help point you in the right direction.
No matter if you think you know all the answers, you still have a subconscious mind ruling your thoughts. Deep ingrained limiting beliefs, fears, past hurts and failures, these are all things that influence our ability to take action.
There was a point in my life a couple years ago I was feeling particularly lost, but also knew deep down I was on the verge of a big turning point. Not knowing what step to take next I invested in a life coach, and I immediately saw the effects.
I was able to confront fears and anxieties I didn't even realize I was carrying around with me, so that I could take steps to level up my life.
Within 6 months of working with this coach I was moving across the country to find my true calling.
Without this experience I wouldn't be here, pursuing a certification as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner in order to help others too.
I realize the importance of having someone on your side through difficult times.
A crucial role of the mentor is to provide space for the person to share their thoughts. We spend our entire lives mostly living in our head, no wonder we stop before even moving towards a dream.
The brain was designed to scan the environment for danger and remember past negative experiences. This is to keep us safe, for when our lives are at risk.
But the majority of our fears have nothing to do with staying alive. Constantly worrying about our body image, comparing our life to others, unhappy at our job, financial struggles, these are all things that paralyze us.
So when we call in that neutral third party, we suddenly are given the gift of perspective. We realize our fears are part of the human experience, something we all share.
We are not alone in the things that hold us back from pursuing our passions.
But we are also given the tangible steps of how to move on with life. How to actually take action instead of staying in the comfort zone of never ending scenarios that occupy our brain space.
Like I said there are many types of coaches out there, some you hire and some you may just call occasionally for advice.
Some ideas for a coach
-A therapist or mental health expert that can aid in addressing depression
-Lifestyle based coach (life or business coach with a set program to follow)
-An expert in a given field (nutritionist, dating coach, business consultant)
-Mentor, either at work or a friend with experience in what you are dealing with
-Accountability partner: friend, colleague, or schoolmate which you can provide equal support
-An older family member that can provide advice and tough love
We live in an age now where anything you might be struggling with, there is an expert for. By investing in yourself you are growing your self worth, but also creating a better life.
Taking accountability for your actions and self ownership is something that most people lack nowadays.
By taking control of your future you are able to gain confidence and show up more authentically in your relationships.
Take this as an investment in yourself, personally and financially, to step into a better version of yourself. Money will always work itself out in the end, but living a bigger, more purposeful life is priceless.
