Books that inspired my self development

Books have always been a powerful tool for learning, but when it comes to transformation they are unlike anything else.Books help you realize that what you are experiencing is not uncommon, that others have gone down the same path as you.I have always been an avid reader but when I started my self development journey, I would later realize just how impactful books were.No matter how lost or unsure I was, there was a book out there to guide me.I found most of my books by researching what I was going through, and recommendations from people that inspire me.Above anything else I think it's important to never stop learning.Never stop seeking answers or working towards the next stage of your life.Especially in a transformational journey, books are like that wise friend that you can call no matter what happens.Self development books are an interesting segment of writing because they are always written by someone who has gone through tough times.Someone that sought healing and truth and can now share their experience onto their readers.I have read a lot of books throughout my journey but there are four in particular that stick out to me.In fact, they are books I keep around that I go back to time and time again. If I am going through a tough time or just feeling lost, I will spend 20 minutes every morning reading from one of these books. My favorite thing to do is open to a random page and see how I can apply the learnings to my current situation. So I hope any or all of these books can help you too, and can provide some perspective. Trust me, you are never alone in what you are going through. The 4 Agreements by Don Miguel RuizThis is a popular book within the self development community and for good reason. It's straightforward and tells you exactly what you need to know about being happy, free, and powerful. The author is a lifelong healer and this book is based on ancient wisdom passed down by his ancestors. He also talks about the origin of self-limiting beliefs and how to stop them. This book is based on one of the most important lessons I have learned in my life thus far, and that is you are in complete control of yourself and your life.Is this book for you? See if any of the below apply

  • If you are brand new to self development looking for a place to start
  • You feel like life is constantly against you, like you can't catch a break
  • You are overwhelmed about the amount of information regarding happiness and self development and just want the basics
  • You are letting self limiting beliefs control your everyday and you feel trapped

The Big Leap by Gay HendricksThis was a book that I read early on in my journey and honestly changed the way I approached life. The author is a relationship therapist that has vast experience in teaching high level executives to reach great success. The teachings in this book are very unique, and a perspective I haven't heard anywhere else before.Basically, Hendricks points out that as humans, we are genetically wired to believe we can only achieve a certain level of success and happiness.Do you get sick right before a big presentation? Do you sabotage the start of an amazing relationship out of fear? Do you shy away from trying new things?Well you aren't alone and definitely don't have to suffer from it anymore.Hendricks also outlines four different ways we are subconsciously  holding ourselves back and what to do about them.Is this book for you?

  • You are at a crossroads in your life and looking for the next big break
  • You feel like anytime you go for something new, something bad happens
  • You have had a feeling of being fundamentally flawed in someway your entire life
  • You are ready to find your purpose

Your Erroneous Zones by Wayne DyerThis is one of my favorite books for people that are struggling with any mental doubt, fear or anxiety. It's all about how to break free from all the mental chatter and how to be totally present.Being present and living in the moment is really the only way to feel freedom and happiness.Written by one of the most popular authors in the self development world, this book applies to people at any stage in your life. This is one of the books I especially love to pull out from time to time to keep me on track and living with positive intention.Errozoneous zones are those old thoughts patterns that keep you stuck, insecure, and full of doubt. But with the help of this book you can break free and start living from a place of optimism. Is this book for you?

  • You struggle with constant worry, fear, and anxiety
  • You have self limiting beliefs that you can't shake off
  • You blame your hardships on everyone else in your life, never taking responsibility
  • You are ready to learn how to live in the moment

The Complete Works by Florence Scovel ShinnThis was a book  I stumbled upon during an online course I was taking. I don't think I would have ever heard about this before but I'm glad I did. This book was written in 1847, by a woman that was ahead of her time. She was spiritual teacher of sorts and was sought out by people that wanted to manifest a better life.Consider this book to be a history lesson on manifesting and law of attraction.I talk all about this concept in my recent post on creating your own reality and this book will get you there. The book is written in an older form of english but the concepts are timeless. It's proof that what you put out into the universe will absolutely come true.Is this book for you?

  • You are ready to start practicing the law of attraction
  • You have a solid foundation in self development and are ready for level 2
  • There's something you are desiring and are ready to take action to create it

So there you have it, my top book recommendations for anyone ready to take their life into their own hands.Let me know which ones you decide to read!SaveSaveSaveSave
